The Story Behind Crewscape

After founding Terra Firma, it took a couple seasons to fully understand the industry and the challenges that come with scaling a landscaping business. As we grew rapidly, we knew we needed better systems to organize our operations and reduce the chaos.

We turned to software — using multiple tools to manage admin work, scheduling, and operations — which helped, but never fully solved the problem. Nothing offered everything we needed in one place.

Instead of continuing to patch together different systems, we decided to build our own.

Crewscape was created to solve the real issues we faced in the field. One of our biggest priorities was eliminating scattered communication — giving employees a simple way to log repairs and issues directly into a system tagged to the equipment, instead of relying on texts, calls, or verbal updates.

We also needed a better way to handle dispatching. Summer work is scheduled and predictable, but winter operations are not — routes need to stay open and flexible for operators. Crewscape was built to handle both seamlessly, while eliminating paper logs and route sheets entirely.

With built-in photo documentation and tracking, we’ve also created a system that improves accountability and protects against liability — all while simplifying operations enough that one person can manage the backend and the business can continue to scale.
